Job Overview
A growing law firm specializing in creditors' rights and collections is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its Michigan-based legal team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for attorneys interested in auto collections, replevin, and commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of relevant legal experience and be licensed in Michigan. This role is well-suited for a motivated, detail-oriented attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume practice.

Duties

  • Review and approve demand letters

  • Draft, review, and sign pleadings, including lawsuits and motions

  • Attend hearings and depositions across jurisdictions

  • Negotiate case settlements in alignment with client goals

  • Provide legal advice on case development and litigation strategy

  • Manage assigned caseload with minimal supervision

  • Maintain communication with clients and court personnel

  • Represent clients in bench trials and other legal proceedings

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of litigation and/or collections experience, preferably in replevin law

  • Experience handling hearings, motions, and bench trials

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently

  • Strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism

  • Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills

  • Proven negotiation skills and attention to detail

  • Comfortable interacting directly with clients and legal staff

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the Michigan Bar (Required)

Skills

  • Solid legal research and writing ability

  • Effective oral advocacy and courtroom presence

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong time management

  • Proficient in legal practice management tools and Microsoft Office

  • Collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
