Job Title: Senior Staff Attorney, Clean Energy & Tax

Job Responsibilities:
The role of Senior Staff Attorney at the organization involves a dynamic leadership position within the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) space. The attorney will work closely with the Director of the Climate Change and Environmental Justice (CCEJ) Program to manage the expansion of the organization's Clean Energy Clinic. Key responsibilities include:

- Managing the Clean Energy Clinic by overseeing outside counsel to provide legal guidance, tracking updates to IRA law, policy, and regulations, and representing the organization on IRA implementation issues.
- Collaborating with nonprofit partners to create technical assistance packages for public entities looking to utilize Elective Pay.
- Running meetings with external clients and attorney teams, and tracking progress for each Clinic client.
- Being a thought leader alongside the CCEJ Director to advocate for the equitable implementation of the IRA and other federal statutes.
- Advising on laws, policy, and regulations associated with IRA implementation, particularly the Elective Pay process.
- Assisting the CCEJ Director in identifying IRA implementation issues and influencing policy at high levels of government.
- Managing the Clean Energy Initiative and helping to shape the CCEJ Program to promote equity and clean energy principles.
- Drafting key comment letters to federal agencies to help shape policy and IRA implementation.

Education and Experience Information:
- A law degree (.) is required.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in tax, clean energy, regulatory, energy, and/or administrative law.
- Experience with the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience working with state and local decision-makers.
- Comfort with presenting technical legal issues to large audiences.
- Passion for tackling climate change and environmental justice issues.
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Mac computers.
- Technology comfort and competence, with a willingness to embrace new tools.

Desired qualifications include:
- Direct experience with IRA implementation, particularly Elective Pay.
- Located in or around Washington, DC, with a willingness to travel for public policy presentations.
- Experience with digital tools such as Asana, Airtable, and Zoom.

Salary Information:
The position offers an annual salary of USD $120,000.
