The **Members Only**, also known as DCF, is currently offering unpaid internship opportunities for the summer semester. This program is designed for college students who are seeking field experience in social work, psychology, management support services, or related fields. As an intern, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in various offices and departments within DCF, including Local and Area Offices, as well as the CP&P and DCF Central Offices.
Requirements for this internship include being a current college student. Please note that certain factors, such as a background check, driving record, or prior convictions, may disqualify you from consideration.
Internship Opportunities in the Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs
If you are interested in pursuing a career in the legal field, DCF's Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs offers a great opportunity for you to gain experience. As an intern in this office, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including legal research, summarizing court decisions that impact the department, and communicating with different agencies in a professional manner. Strong writing skills are a must for this position.
The Administrative Hearings Unit (AHU) is one of the units that interns will work closely with. This unit deals with appeals related to abuse/neglect, licensing actions, eligibility for services, and adoption/KLG subsidy denials. As an intern, you will assist in reviewing cases and analyzing evidence to determine appeal eligibility. You will also have the opportunity to write Final Agency Decisions based on the decisions made by Administrative Law Judges.
Another unit that interns will work with is the immigration unit. This unit provides education and assistance to DCF staff on immigration issues that may affect the populations they serve. This includes working with other agencies and stakeholders to help clients access available immigration services.
