A prominent legal firm located in New York City is seeking a seasoned Immigration Partner to lead and expand its immigration law practice. The ideal candidate will have a well-established ability to attract and retain clients, with a substantial portable book of business. This role presents a unique opportunity for a highly skilled immigration attorney to join a progressive firm that values business growth, diversity, and innovative legal solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Immigration practice, providing legal services on a wide range of immigration matters, including employment-based visas, family-based petitions, asylum, deportation defense, and naturalization.
  • Sustain and expand a client base with a portable business of at least $600,000 in annual billings.
  • Offer strategic counsel to individuals and organizations navigating the complexities of . immigration law.
  • Engage in active business development efforts, including client outreach, networking, and fostering relationships to grow the firm's immigration client portfolio.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide integrated legal services to clients with multi-faceted legal needs.
  • Represent clients in immigration court and before various administrative agencies, ensuring the highest standard of advocacy and representation.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and provide guidance to ensure consistent and high-quality legal service delivery.
  • Contribute to the firm’s diversity initiatives by helping to create an inclusive and culturally rich work environment.

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of specialized experience in immigration law, with a history of handling complex immigration matters for both individuals and businesses.
  • A proven track record of business development, with an established book of business generating at least $600,000 per year.
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and business partners.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and supervising junior attorneys or legal teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of . immigration law, including employment-based immigration, family reunification, deportation defense, and policy updates.
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts to clients from diverse backgrounds.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).
  • Certification or additional training in immigration law is preferred but not mandatory.

Desired Skills:

  • Expertise in managing immigration cases from inception through to resolution, including both non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories.
  • Experience in federal court litigation related to immigration matters is a plus.
  • Business-minded with a focus on building a robust practice while contributing to the firm’s broader objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple high-stakes cases simultaneously.
  • Commitment to staying current on immigration law developments and policy changes.
