Job Title: Complex Claims Consultant - Financial Lines/Public D&O

Job Responsibilities:

- Manage an inventory of highly complex litigated claims, focusing on large exposures requiring specialized technical expertise and coordination.
- Verify policy coverage, conduct investigations, develop resolution strategies, and authorize disbursements within authority limits.
- Analyze complex coverage issues across multiple policy forms and coverage parts.
- Ensure exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claim, maintaining professional interactions, achieving quality standards, and providing timely updates.
- Verify coverage and establish timely and adequate reserves through policy language review and collaboration with coverage counsel.
- Lead focused investigations to independently assess liability and damages by gathering necessary information.
- Resolve claims by collaborating with internal and external partners, developing claim resolution strategies, managing reserves, negotiating settlements, and participating in mediations and settlement conferences.
- Establish and manage claim budgets, overseeing resources, authorizing payments, and delivering high-quality service efficiently.
- Identify subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud and refer cases to appropriate resources for further investigation.
- Achieve quality standards by ensuring adherence to company protocols, accuracy, timely documentation, and timely resolution and payment of claims.
- Keep senior leadership informed of significant risks and losses through loss summaries and presentations.
- Maintain subject matter expertise and compliance with regulatory requirements by following guidelines and staying updated on insurance laws and trends.
- Mentor, guide, and train less experienced claim professionals.

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Juris Doctorate preferred.
- Minimum six years of relevant experience, preferably in Professional Liability claim handling or law firm experience handling Professional Liability matters.
- Must obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire if applicable.
- Prior negotiation experience required.
- Professional designations preferred (., CPCU).

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

- Advanced technical and product-specific expertise in claims resolution and knowledge of insurance and claims principles.
- Ability to handle litigated matters, select and direct counsel, formulate and execute resolution strategies, and coordinate strategically with counsel, insureds, brokers, and other insurers.
- Thorough knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated analytical and investigative mindset, critical thinking skills, and ability to make sound business decisions.
- Strong work ethic with time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high productivity.
- Experience interpreting complex commercial insurance policies and coverage.
- Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a challenging environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn business-related software.
- Ability to value diverse opinions and ideas.

Salary Information:

In certain jurisdictions, the national base pay range for this job level is $72,000 to $141,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
