Job Title: Bodily Injury Claim Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Bodily Injury Claim Specialist plays a significant role within the Complex Claims Unit (CCU) of **Members Only** Global Specialty (HGS) Claims Division. The primary responsibilities include managing a caseload of higher complexity and higher exposure bodily injury and construction-related bodily injury claims from inception to final disposition. This involves handling claims with both primary and excess coverages, often requiring analysis of contracts between parties to determine indemnity and contribution obligations and risk transfer opportunities. The role necessitates experience in handling litigated matters, managing defense counsel, and prior experience in handling bodily injury claims. Although excess claims handling experience is recommended, it is not required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of litigated and non-litigated construction bodily injury claims under commercial general liability policies.
- Conducting investigations and analyzing and evaluating the information learned.
- Making coverage determinations and communicating written positions to insureds and other required parties.
- Setting appropriate expense and indemnity reserves within prescribed authority levels and monitoring for necessary adjustments.
- Presenting cases to management for expense or indemnity reserve authority above established authority levels.
- Developing and implementing resolution strategies to achieve high-quality outcomes.
- Proactively managing litigation and counsel, including litigation planning and execution, budgeting, and bill review.
- Attending trials and mediations as necessary.
- Contributing to broader claim and enterprise goals by participating in audits, projects, and product development initiatives.
- Preparing comprehensive reports and delivering presentations to senior claim leadership on case developments, policy issues, industry trends, etc.
- Working with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developments.
- Addressing inquiries from agents and policyholders and providing superior customer service.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of experience in handling complex litigated bodily injury claims. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and a law degree is considered a plus, or commensurate experience may be considered. Familiarity with owner and contractor-controlled insurance policies and programs, as well as wrap policies, is a plus.

Salary Information:
The annualized base pay range for the Bodily Injury Claim Specialist position is $106,400 to $159,600. This range is primarily based on an analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay may vary and could be above or below the listed range based on factors including, but not limited to, performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is one component of the company's total compensation package for employees, which may also include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The posted salary range reflects the company's ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
Work Arrangement:
This role offers a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates living near one of the company's office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) are expected to work in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
