Job Title: Assistant Attorney-in-Charge, Juvenile Rights Trial Office
Experience: Minimum of 5 years legal practice in child welfare and/or juvenile delinquency practice
Salary Range: $99,444 - $163,507
Location: Citywide, New York, United States
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and managerial leadership to the Juvenile Rights Trial Office
- Monitor and maintain high standards of representation and client service
- Respond to client, community, and staff concerns
- Evaluate office needs and identify necessary resources
- Analyze legal issues and develop legal strategy
- Foster teamwork and communication
- Ensure staff accountability and data management
- Coach, develop, and evaluate staff
- Train and develop skills and knowledge of staff members
- Represent JRP and Legal Aid in the community
Team Development and Supervision:
- Schedule employee hours, assign work, approve time off and remote work schedule requests
- Attend management meetings and participate in trainings
- Conduct management and supervision practices that support equity and inclusion
- Supervise direct reports and provide performance feedback
- Identify and provide training and development opportunities
- Identify and implement management and accountability practices
Professional Development and Other Duties as Assigned:
- Participate in continuous professional development
- Learn about forms of bias in the workplace and demonstrate affirmative behaviors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years legal practice in child welfare and/or juvenile delinquency practice
- Admission to the bar of the state of New York
- Substantial litigation experience in complex matters
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory and management experience preferred

- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative team model
- Highly proficient in data and client management
- Pro Bono, government, public service, and academic experience relevant
- Commitment to exploring alternative structures for legal practice

Salary and Benefits:
- Salary range: $99,444 - $163,507
