Job Title: Associate Project Manager II

Job Responsibilities:
Under supervision, the Associate Project Manager II serves as a Project Engineer within the Field Operations Unit of the Quality Assurance department in the Bureau of Engineering Review and Support, Division of Bridges. The key responsibilities include visiting multiple construction sites to oversee construction activities related to major bridge components such as erection, concrete and asphalt placements, embankment, subgrade and base installation, pile driving, drilled shaft installation, and reinforcing bars formwork installation. The role involves generating field reports on findings and deficiencies observed during inspections to ensure work compliance with project plans and specifications. The candidate must have the ability to review design drawings and demonstrate knowledge of NYSDOT Standard Specifications. They are required to verify project and material acceptance records and ensure their compliance with NYSDOT MURK (Material Uniform Record Keeping) requirements. Additionally, the role requires knowledge of concrete and asphalt material properties, principles of mix design, methods of placement, concrete curing, and field material inspection and testing. The candidate will also review Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) around the jobsite and adjacent streets for safety protection for the public and motorists. Participation in contractor’s progress meetings, QA meetings, and performing other related duties are also part of the job.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in fields such as engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work as described above.
- Alternatively, a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described above.
- A combination of college or university education and/or experience to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience is also acceptable. Experience credit will be given for each 30 semester credits of college or university education leading to a bachelor’s degree in the relevant fields, a Master’s degree, a Juris Doctor degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Registered Landscape Architect.

Candidates must also meet additional requirements for Assignment Level I, including at least one additional year of experience in a supervisory capacity or having served as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project. An additional two years of experience is required for higher levels.

Preferred Skills:
Field construction experience and effective communication skills in verbal and written form are preferred.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $84, – $123,.
