Job Title: Senior Associate, State and Local Tax
Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Associate in the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, you will be involved in a variety of responsibilities aimed at assisting clients with their state and local tax burdens. Your key duties will include:
- Assisting with state and local tax planning and compliance projects, focusing on technical issues such as apportionment methodologies, tax base modifications, and Tax Reform for corporate and pass-through entities.
- Delivering state and local tax advisory services, including conducting refund reviews, nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, and tax minimization studies for income/franchise tax purposes.
- Conducting independent research on multi-state income/franchise tax issues and developments.
- Handling various tax types, including sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, employment taxes, credits and incentives, and property taxes.
- Participating in client calls to understand critical areas of importance and applying tax technical knowledge to specific client situations.
- Creating concise and complete deliverables that address the critical elements identified by the client.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to communicate work plans, project objectives, and timelines clearly.
- Supporting engagement workflow management and mentoring Associates by delegating tasks, ensuring efficient task completion, and sharing best practices.
- Valuing diverse perspectives and creating opportunities for individuals to contribute comfortably.
- Building client relationships and demonstrating a working knowledge of client businesses, with opportunities to assume additional responsibilities quickly.
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients by leveraging working knowledge of client businesses.
- Assisting with business development, including add-on work by creating business development resources and proposal materials.
- Building internal relationships with other members of the Tax team and the broader company.
Education and Experience Information:
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with State and Local Tax.
- CPA or Licensed Attorney (or in the process of pursuing).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Power BI.
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage deadlines effectively.
- A high motivation to learn and grow, with a detail-oriented and strong organizational skill set.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 annually. This is dependent on several variables, including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition to the base salary, the company offers a discretionary bonus program based on various factors, including individual and firm performance.
