Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Consultant, Real Property Tax, is tasked with identifying property tax savings opportunities for clients while possessing an intermediate understanding of valuation techniques. The role requires conducting research and analyzing and interpreting comparable assessment data, market data, and sales transactions. The Senior Consultant assists the team with assessment review and monitoring the appeal process for client portfolios. Responsibilities include creating positive team member experiences, responding to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities, and demonstrating a full understanding of the annual property tax cycle for assigned real property portfolios. The role also involves building awareness and understanding of jurisdictional rules and filing requirements, inspecting properties, preparing reports, analyzing assessment notices, and determining potential assessment reductions. The consultant is expected to apply software knowledge to work efficiently with client data and possess knowledge in assessment review, appeal determination, tax bill administration, and the three valuation approaches: cost, sales comparison, and income. Additionally, the consultant should handle appeals, monitor the appeals process, attend client status calls and meetings, and provide supporting data and findings for the leadership team. The role includes participating in recruiting efforts, interacting and communicating effectively with team members, and performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Real Estate, Business Management, Public Administration, MIS/Entrepreneurship, International Business, or another relevant field. Candidates with an MBA, MST, JD, or appropriate valuation designations are preferred. The ideal candidate has one to three years of audit or tax-related experience and a desire to perform in a high-energy team environment. Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity is required, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
