Job Title: Law Clerk

Job Responsibilities:
The Law Clerk will support the legal team on a range of issues such as labor and employment law questions, intellectual property, telecommunications, data and cybersecurity, federal and state election law, nonprofit tax law and governance, and ethics and gift rules. The responsibilities will primarily involve conducting legal research, writing, and analysis of varying levels of formality and complexity. This includes analyzing legislation and litigation impacting the organization’s activities or operations. Additionally, the Law Clerk will prepare guidance documents on legal issues for non-legal staff and may assist in preparing and conducting training. The role also includes gaining exposure to grantmaking and campaign finance compliance obligations. The Law Clerk will have opportunities for professional development, including informational interviews with staff and participation in organization-wide training and discussions.
Education and Experience Information:
Education: Applicants are required to have completed at least one year of law school. It is preferred for candidates to have taken employment and/or labor law classes or have experience in political campaigns.
Experience: Prior internship or work experience with a nonprofit organization, government agency, law firm, or labor union is preferred.
Skills: Candidates should be highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong legal research, writing, and analysis skills are necessary, along with solid judgment and critical thinking abilities. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, handle multiple tasks, and be a self-starter. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Westlaw is required. Spanish language competency is a plus.

Salary Information:
The Law Clerk position offers compensation of per hour, with an expectation of up to 40 hours of work per week, unless otherwise funded.
Additional Information:
This position is classified as “Regular Remote Work”, meaning it is not assigned to an office and can be performed remotely full-time. The duration of the role is up to 12 weeks, with an expected period from September 15 to December 5, 2025, though the start date is flexible. The organization offers sick leave, voting leave, and paid holidays observed by the organization, including federal holidays.
