Job Title: Contracts Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements, including vendor agreements, grant agreements, partnership agreements, and subcontracts, or coordinate pro-bono legal counsel to perform these tasks.
- Build and curate the organization's library of approved contract and agreement templates.
- Advise on contractual risks and ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure contracts align with the organization's mission and operational needs.
- Provide legal guidance on risk mitigation strategies related to contract terms.
- Manage relationships with pro-bono legal counsel in terms of contract review, lease reviews, etc.
- Support other legal and compliance matters as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- . from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one . jurisdiction, primarily working within the state of California.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in contract law, preferably in the nonprofit, renewable energy, or construction sectors.
- Background in government (federal, state, local) contracts and/or construction contracts is preferred for government and required for construction.
- Strong understanding of contract negotiation, risk assessment, and compliance requirements.
- Adept collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating and managing pro-bono legal counsel is a plus.
- Passion for social equity and environmental justice is a plus.
Salary Information:
- This is a part-time, exempt position with salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band of $62,126 to $115,378 annually.
- The position is estimated at 20-24 hours per week.
Additional Information:
- This role is remote with the option to work at nearby organization offices if desired.
- The role may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects, with availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.
- The organization may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, requiring applicants to hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
