Job Title: Seized Property Specialist
Department: Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations
Job Responsibilities:
As a Seized Property Specialist at the full performance level, the primary responsibilities include:
- Providing custody, management, and disposition of seized or forfeited property.
- Overseeing the receipt, security, and transportation of various types of seized or forfeited property, such as controlled substances, currency, and firearms.
- Witnessing or supervising the destruction of seized or forfeited property, including narcotics.
- Arranging for the transfer or temporary safekeeping of seized or forfeited property prior to its release for storage and disposition to a contractor.
Education and Experience Information:
For the GS-09 grade level, candidates must possess one of the following:
- Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent, which includes providing support to a seized property management function by locating physical storage facilities, accounting for seized property through an automated system, and preparing reports for management or court cases.
- Education: A master's degree (or equivalent graduate degree such as .) or two academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed education and experience, calculated using the candidate's resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with the application.
For the GS-11 grade level, candidates must possess one of the following:
- Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent, which includes assisting with providing custody, management, and disposition of seized and forfeited property by overseeing their receipt, security, transportation, and review of appraised value; and assisting with determining liens, quick-sale, storage, inventory, maintenance, modification, refurbishment, upgrade, and final disposition of seized and forfeited property.
- Education: A . or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed education and experience, calculated using the candidate's resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with the application.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $61,111 - $120,157 per year. The actual salary will be based on the applicable locality pay for the selected duty location. The position is classified under the GS 9 - 11 pay scale and grade.

- This is a non-bargaining unit position.
