Job Overview:
A law firm based in Houston, TX, is actively seeking a mid-level associate with hands-on experience in intellectual property disputes, particularly those involving pharmaceutical or life sciences-related patent litigation. The role centers on complex patent litigation, including Hatch-Waxman matters, offering exposure to high-impact cases and opportunities for increased responsibility.

Duties:

  • Handle a broad range of patent litigation activities with a focus on life sciences and pharmaceuticals

  • Draft and review legal motions, pleadings, and discovery documents

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analyze case law relevant to patent disputes

  • Assist in managing expert discovery and preparing expert reports

  • Participate in depositions and court hearings under senior attorney guidance

  • Support case strategy and trial preparation activities

  • Collaborate with cross-office teams across multiple jurisdictions

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in intellectual property or patent litigation

  • Prior exposure to Hatch-Waxman or similar life sciences-related cases preferred

  • Familiarity with complex litigation procedures, including expert discovery

  • Strong legal drafting, analytical, and research capabilities

  • Solid courtroom presence or interest in developing advocacy skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar

  • Patent Bar eligibility or a scientific background in life sciences is strongly preferred
