Job Overview:
A nationally respected law firm is seeking a 2nd to 4th year Associate Attorney to join its Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice. This position plays a key role in advising clients during cybersecurity incidents and investigations, counseling on regulatory compliance, and supporting data-related aspects of transactions. The ideal candidate will work closely with technology companies navigating an increasingly complex legal landscape, taking on significant responsibilities in both advisory and transactional matters. This position is being recruited on behalf of the firm.

Location:

  • San Diego, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients in connection with cybersecurity incidents and investigations

  • Provide counsel on regulatory compliance with global data privacy laws (., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA)

  • Draft and negotiate data privacy agreements, internal policies, and incident response plans

  • Support data protection aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and technology transactions

  • Guide clients on best practices for cybersecurity readiness and risk management

  • Counsel cybersecurity companies on legal issues related to threat intelligence and security research

  • Monitor and interpret legal developments in cybersecurity and data protection law

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of relevant legal experience in cybersecurity, privacy law, technology transactions, or regulatory counseling

  • Experience with incident response, investigations, or government cybersecurity work is a plus

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with innovative and tech-focused clients

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Excellent academic credentials required

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction where the attorney will practice

  • CIPP or similar certification preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Strong research, drafting, and legal analysis capabilities

  • Excellent communication and client-relations skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet tight deadlines

  • Collaborative and solutions-driven approach
