This position offers a competitive salary and is open to candidates in any of the firm's Virginia offices, including Richmond, Chesterfield, Petersburg, Mechanicsville, Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Charlottesville.

The Research & Writing Attorney will report to the firm's President and work as part of a team with lead Trial Attorneys. They will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and writing on personal injury, product liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, and sex abuse survivor cases. Preference will be given to candidates with judicial clerkship experience in appellate or federal court.

Candidates must submit a resume and writing sample (10 pages maximum) with their application. The ideal writing sample would be a motion or motion response that has been filed with a court.

Requirements for this position include exceptional legal research and writing skills, experience drafting and arguing contested legal motions, and a willingness to focus on research of complicated legal issues. Law Review experience is preferred, and mock trial or moot court experience is helpful but not required. Candidates must also be licensed to practice in Virginia.

Some of the responsibilities of this role include complex research and analysis, client contact, written discovery, preparation for mediations, hearings, and trials, and preparation of appellate briefs, motions, and legal memoranda. This practice involves both state and federal cases.

The physical and environmental requirements for this position include the ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted, sitting for long periods of time, occasional standing and walking, and the visual capability to work viewing a computer monitor for several hours a day. This role also requires the ability to work in an office environment around others and exhibit manual dexterity while using standard office equipment such as phones, keyboards, and copiers for extended periods of time.
