Job Title: Manager, Public Policy, Transportation & Logistics, Americas Public Policy
Job Responsibilities:
The Manager, Public Policy will play a crucial role in developing and executing advocacy strategies and policy initiatives that support the transportation and logistics businesses of the company. This includes focusing on innovation within the areas of freight, long-haul trucking, and autonomous vehicle technologies. The role involves working collaboratively across the company's public policy teams to prioritize policies, representing the company before policymakers, trade associations, industry coalitions, and other relevant external stakeholders.
The Manager will ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals by working closely with public relations and legal teams. They will oversee and coordinate external advocacy efforts, manage key initiatives, and support the company's long-term transportation safety and innovation priorities. The position requires reporting to the Vice President, Transportation Public Policy.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience is mandatory.
- A Juris Doctorate, Master’s Degree, or other Advanced Degree is preferred.
- A deep understanding of the US policymaking process and government relations is advantageous.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential, with the ability to interact comfortably at the highest corporate and political levels.
- A proven track record of working cross-functionally and the ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is necessary.
- The candidate must demonstrate flexibility, strong judgment, decision-making skills, and political acumen.
- Experience in building and fostering effective relationships and networks is important.
- The candidate should have the ability to understand technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
- Prior experience with steep learning curves and the ability to communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences is desirable.
