Job Overview
A prominent law firm based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a mid-level associate to join its dynamic Litigation group. This role provides an opportunity to engage in challenging work that contributes significantly to the firm's practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, particularly in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, and will be adept at navigating complex legal landscapes. This position allows for a hybrid work environment, blending remote work with in-office responsibilities, and facilitating flexibility while maintaining collaboration.

Duties

  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure their needs are met and expectations are managed.
  • Supervise junior associates and collaborate with experts to strengthen case strategies.
  • Assist in fact development, including conducting depositions and drafting necessary legal documents.
  • Review and draft discovery responses, briefs, motions, and memoranda to support litigation efforts.
  • Contribute to developing case strategy, leveraging strong analytical skills to assess legal situations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, preferably at an AmLaw 100 firm.
  • Strong science background, with specific experience in product liability and complex commercial litigation.
  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical and medical device industries is essential.
  • Admitted to practice in Illinois.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a nationally recognized law school.
  • Strong academic credentials are required, with additional degrees such as MD, MPH, PharmD, or in Epidemiology being advantageous.

Certifications

  • Active Bar admission in Illinois is required.

  • Exceptional analytical and writing abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade.
