The Office of the State Appellate Defender is currently accepting applications for their fall internship program. This is a great opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience in criminal appeals and work alongside experienced attorneys. The internships are available for both in-person and remote work, providing flexibility and accommodating the needs of both the district and the intern.
The fall internship program is a part-time, 12-week program that offers a unique learning experience for students interested in pursuing a career in public service. Interns will have the opportunity to work on real cases and assist attorneys in various tasks such as writing briefs and conducting legal research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on criminal appeals with experienced attorneys
- Write opening briefs, reply briefs, and petitions for rehearing
- Prepare for oral arguments
- Conduct legal research assignments
Requirements:
- Current law student
- Excellent legal research, writing, editing, and oral communication skills
- Interest in public service
- Coursework in legal writing, criminal law, evidence, and appellate advocacy
