Job Responsibilities
As a 2L Summer Associate at the law firm, the candidate will be expected to engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the development of their legal skills and understanding of the legal profession. Responsibilities include:
- Participating in legal research and writing assignments to support attorneys in various practice areas.
- Assisting in the preparation of legal documents and filings.
- Attending meetings, hearings, and depositions to gain practical experience.
- Engaging in client interaction under the supervision of experienced attorneys.
- Participating in training sessions and workshops designed to enhance legal knowledge and skills.
- Collaborating with attorneys and other summer associates on special projects and assignments.
- Demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and development throughout the summer program.
Education and Experience Information
Candidates interested in the 2L Summer Associates position must meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- Must be a second-year law student (2L) in the 2027 graduating class.
- Demonstrated high academic achievement in law school courses.
- Excellent research and writing abilities are required.
- Extracurricular involvement and/or prior employment history, preferably in leadership positions, is highly desirable.
- Maturity and the ability to accept responsibility in a professional setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and interact with clients.
- For positions within the Intellectual Property Department, a technical background is required, and candidates should possess patent-bar-eligible undergraduate degrees.
Salary Information
The weekly salary range for summer associates at the law firm varies by location and is between $2,200 and $3,500.

The law firm is seeking resumes for its 2026 summer program from 2L students interested in both general summer associate/non-IP positions and positions within the Intellectual Property Department. The general summer associate/non-IP positions are available in various locations including Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus, OH; San Diego and Los Angeles, CA; Indianapolis, IN; Lexington and Louisville, KY; Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, FL; Pittsburgh, PA; and Charleston, WV. For the Intellectual Property Department, positions are available in Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Dayton, OH; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Pittsburgh, PA; and San Diego, CA.
