Litigation Counsel - Louisiana - Work from Home Opportunity in LA, New Orleans
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Counsel is responsible for defending cases throughout the State of Louisiana. Key duties include:
- Handling all assigned litigation and other legal matters for the company and its policyholders.
- Performing case analysis, preparing motions, pleadings, and discovery.
- Conducting depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
- Communicating effectively with the claims department.
- Representing individuals as well as corporate and nonprofit entities in a mix of commercial property, coverage, and personal injury cases, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death.
- Maintaining independent professional judgment required of a lawyer.
- Traveling frequently for single-day trips and occasionally overnight to carry out responsibilities.
- Working remotely from home while managing a full-time, high-volume caseload with little to no direct supervision.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must be licensed or eligible to practice law in Louisiana.
- Graduation from an accredited law school is required.
- A minimum of five years of insurance defense litigation experience is necessary.
- Trial experience is preferred.
- Admission to or eligibility for admission to federal court is required.
- Prior in-house experience is considered a plus.
Salary Information:
- This is a full-time position with a salary range of $125,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience.
- Bonus eligibility is also included.
