Job Responsibilities
A successful Counsel at the company supports the Financial Institutions business unit within the Merchant Solutions division. The Counsel is responsible for drafting and negotiating agreements with strategic bank partners and resellers, while also providing critical legal support to the company’s credit and risk teams, including advice on bankruptcy-related matters. The role requires providing legal advice on various laws and rules impacting transaction processing businesses, ensuring prompt and effective counsel to senior business and sales executives. Key responsibilities include:

- Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements directly with business unit representatives.
- Advising business partners on legal, contractual, and risk matters impacting their business units or product sets.
- Partnering with product teams to commercialize new products and functionalities.
- Providing legal consultation and advice on strategic initiatives, technology projects, dispute resolution, and merchant client bankruptcy matters.
- Collaborating effectively with corporate specialists on credit, risk, finance, audit, tax, regulatory, privacy, and technology matters impacting the Merchant Solutions division.
- Developing and maintaining forms of contracts and other legal documentation.

Education and Experience Information
- JD from an accredited law school and in good standing with the State Bar with no disciplinary record.
- Licensed to practice, and ability to become licensed as in-house counsel to practice in the applicable state.
- 3+ years of relevant experience as a transactional lawyer or bankruptcy transactional lawyer.

Additional preferred qualifications include:
- Experience interacting with senior management.
- Experience navigating data use and privacy matters.
- Technical contract experience.
- Exposure to financial services and technology contracts.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $88, - $158,. These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York, and California, and may differ for employees in other states. For incentive-eligible associates, the successful candidate is eligible for an annual incentive opportunity which may be delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards at the company’s sole discretion.

- This role is on-site Monday through Friday, as in-person collaboration is considered an essential part of the role.
- It is a full-time, direct-hire position, and no contract options for unsolicited agency submissions will be considered.
