Legal Counsel
Domtar is currently seeking a Legal Counsel in Fort Mill, South Carolina, to provide legal services and advice to the Pulp & Tissue Business Unit. This full-time permanent position offers competitive compensation and a supportive working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for procurement and sales matters, including drafting and negotiating agreements
- Manage commercial litigation matters in the United States for the Unit
- Advise on general commercial and bankruptcy matters
- Support group-wide projects such as restructurings and M&A
- Provide legal advice on compliance and policy matters
- Manage trademarks for the Unit and the Paper Excellence Group
- Manage external counsel for litigation
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to a state bar
- 3-7 years of experience in related areas
- Familiar with trademarks and intellectual property
- Prior in-house experience in the pulp and paper industry preferred
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics to various stakeholders. They must also be comfortable working autonomously, as the majority of the Unit's attorneys are based in Canada. Quarterly travel to Montreal may be required for in-person meetings with Canadian-based attorneys.
