Job Responsibilities:
The Summer Associate position at the law firm involves working closely with experienced attorneys on a wide range of challenging legal matters. The responsibilities include:
- Engaging in trial and appellate litigation in federal, tribal, and state courts.
- Participating in litigation and advocacy related to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
- Handling various Tribal government matters.
- Addressing issues related to transportation, infrastructure, environmental and natural resources, and economic development.
- Representing Tribal interests before Congress, state legislatures, and federal and state agencies.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates should meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- Applicants must have successfully completed their 2L year by the summer of 2026.
- The law firm encourages applications from Alaska Native and American Indian students.
- Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in Native American matters.
- Applicants must possess excellent legal analysis, reasoning, and writing abilities.
- Strong collaborative interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Enthusiasm for effective advocacy is required.
- Candidates should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Salary Information:
The anticipated salary for the Summer Associate position is $2,500 per week, with payments made bi-monthly. Additionally, travel expenses will be covered.
