The **Members Only** is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Assistant Public Defender. This position offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

As an Assistant Public Defender, you will have the opportunity to defend indigent individuals accused of a crime and make a real impact within the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida. The agency offers extensive training and professional development opportunities for attorneys.

Applicants must have a Florida Bar license, or be awaiting admission to the Florida Bar or registered to take the Florida Bar examination.

Those awaiting admission to the Florida Bar should also include their anticipated admission date and current Certified Legal Intern/FBBE Character & Fitness Clearance status.

Responsibilities for this role include providing professional representation to clients, advising and counseling clients on their rights and options, maintaining relationships with clients and court personnel, and attending training seminars and meetings. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.

Qualifications for this position include a Juris Doctorate degree, strong language and reasoning abilities, a valid Florida Driver's license, and a Florida Bar license. The work environment is moderate, and employees utilize personal computers, printers, and other office equipment.

This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule of Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm. The location is in Fort Myers, FL, with the possibility of travel to other locations within the circuit for assignments and training.
