General Summary:
Alston & Bird, a prominent law firm in Atlanta, is seeking a talented and motivated 3L law student to join their Wealth Planning & Exempt Organizations Group. This is an entry-level associate position that will begin in the fall of 2025. The firm's team provides sophisticated counsel to high-net-worth individuals, family offices, private foundations, public charities, and other nonprofit organizations. The work of the group includes personal estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, philanthropic planning, and ongoing tax advice for exempt entities. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in or experience with estate planning, charitable organizations, and taxation. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as excellent academic credentials, are required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counsel to high-net-worth individuals, family offices, private foundations, public charities, and other nonprofit organizations
- Work on personal estate planning and wealth transfer strategies
- Assist with philanthropic planning and ongoing tax advice for exempt entities
- Conduct research and analysis related to estate planning, charitable organizations, and taxation
- Collaborate with other members of the Wealth Planning & Exempt Organizations Group
- Attend meetings and events related to the firm's practice areas
- Keep up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
Requirements:
- Law student in their third year (3L)
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with estate planning, charitable organizations, and taxation
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changes in tax laws and regulations
