Job Description:
The Claim Director - Environmental will handle first-party and third-party voluntary pollution claims for Chubb insured's nationwide. This role will be responsible for the handling and disposition of claims, including investigation, coverage determination, reserving, negotiation and settlement or trial strategies. The role may require some travel and coordination with internal and external business partners.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute claim resolution strategies
• Recognize potential exposures and communicate with senior managers and internal business partners
• Provide exceptional service to internal and external business partners
• Analyze and identify coverage issues and communicate positions to appropriate parties
• Direct and monitor cases through trial/resolution
• Set reserves and make recommendations for reserve changes
• May require travel for conferences, mediations, and trials
Qualifications:
• In-depth knowledge of environmental and casualty
• 2-5 years direct claims handling experience
• Environmental specialists strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on various subjects
• Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based on complex issues
• Strong relational skills, particularly in adverse or high-pressure situations
• Law degree recommended but not necessary
Salary Information:
• Pay range: $79,300 - $134,700
• Specific offer dependent on skills and other factors
