Job Overview:
A leading law firm is currently seeking a California-licensed Associate Attorney with 2–5 years of experience to join its Environment & Land Use practice group. This role is ideal for a motivated legal professional with strong writing and analytical skills, and a demonstrated interest in environmental law. The practice group handles complex matters across renewable energy, transportation, housing, public infrastructure, and utility regulation, representing both public and private sector clients. The firm offers a collaborative, hybrid work environment, early responsibility, and strong opportunities for advancement.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Conduct land use and environmental due diligence

  • Advise on land use entitlements and permitting processes

  • Provide legal counsel on CEQA and NEPA compliance

  • Assist with permitting under environmental and resource protection laws

  • Defend environmental and zoning approvals in state and federal courts

  • Collaborate with attorneys in related practice groups on major projects

Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of relevant legal experience in environment and land use law

  • Demonstrated interest in environmental matters

  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills

  • Experience with CEQA/NEPA and land use permitting preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California (required)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication

  • Ability to manage complex and time-sensitive assignments

  • Team-oriented with collaborative mindset

  • Skilled in counseling clients on regulatory compliance and litigation risks
