A law firm seeks a diligent attorney to join its dynamic asset finance practice in New York. This role offers exposure to aviation finance matters and structured transactions involving both borrowers and lenders. The ideal candidate will contribute to a collaborative team environment and support complex financing arrangements.
Duties
Handle asset-backed financing transactions, with emphasis on aviation-related deals
Assist in structuring and negotiating secured lending arrangements for corporate borrowers and financial institutions
Review, draft, and negotiate transaction documents, including loan agreements, security instruments, and intercreditor arrangements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage due diligence processes, including asset valuations and credit analyses
Coordinate with underwriting, regulatory, and closing teams to ensure smooth deal execution
Advise clients on securitization structures and related risk mitigation strategies
Support senior attorneys in preparing board materials, memoranda, and client presentations
Monitor compliance and covenant requirements throughout the lifecycle of financing arrangements
Requirements
Admission to the New York Bar
3–8 years of experience in asset finance at a comparable law firm, including aviation finance exposure
Demonstrated familiarity with financing structures for aircraft, engines, lease portfolios, or related collateral
Experience representing either borrowers or lenders (or both) in secured transactions
Working knowledge of securitization documentation and trust structures (preferred but not required)
Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications
Active membership in the New York State Bar
Skills
Strong transactional drafting and negotiation capabilities
Excellent analytical aptitude and attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting
Proficiency with legal research tools and the Microsoft Office Suite
