A highly regarded national law firm is seeking a mid to senior-level associate to join its Real Estate & Land Use practice group in Chicago. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of real estate matters for a diverse client base that includes institutional investors, lenders, developers, private equity firms, health systems, and energy companies. Location

Duties

  • Represent clients in commercial real estate transactions, including:

    • Acquisitions and dispositions

    • Commercial leasing (retail, office, industrial, and more)

    • Financings and loan documentation

    • Zoning, land use, and entitlements

    • Asset management and ongoing operations

  • Negotiate and draft transaction documents such as purchase agreements, leases, easements, and financing instruments

  • Perform and manage due diligence, including title, survey, and zoning review

  • Collaborate with clients to develop and execute real estate strategies

  • Support real estate aspects of corporate transactions and joint ventures

  • Work closely with attorneys across practice groups and national offices

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate law

  • Demonstrated proficiency in handling real estate transactions from start to finish

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and transactions concurrently

  • Experience working with sophisticated commercial real estate clients

  • Strong commitment to client service and responsiveness

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school

  • Strong academic record preferred

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in Illinois or eligibility to obtain licensure promptly

Skills

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills

  • Strong understanding of real estate finance and commercial leasing

  • Familiarity with land use, zoning, and regulatory approval processes

  • High level of attention to detail and organization

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic workload and client demands
