A growing, national insurance defense law firm is seeking a highly experienced Associate Attorney to join its Houston, TX office. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, trucking/auto, products liability, construction defect, and premises liability. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of litigation experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases with independence and precision.

Duties

  • Manage a robust caseload involving civil litigation matters such as:

    • Personal injury

    • Construction defect liability

    • Trucking and auto liability

    • Products and premises liability

  • Draft and handle pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and orders

  • Conduct depositions of parties and expert witnesses

  • Respond to and prepare discovery and dispositive motions

  • Represent clients in mediations, court hearings, and commission appearances

  • Conduct legal research with a high degree of competency

  • Prepare evaluations, client status reports, and case summaries

  • Communicate effectively with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, and internal legal teams

Requirements

  • 10 years of civil litigation experience

  • Proven ability to independently handle a wide range of defense litigation matters

  • Strong case management and courtroom experience

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas

  • Additional court admissions are a plus

Skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical capabilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools

  • Detailed-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to prioritize and transition between multiple cases

  • Familiarity with federal and Texas state court procedures

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
