Job Title: Assistant General Counsel - VP - Government Relations and Public Policy Legal
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead or participate in complex initiatives and deliverables, contributing to large-scale planning within the company.
- Handle matters significantly impacting the company's operations, strategies, or profitability.
- Provide legal advice on matters for management of the corporation and its subsidiaries.
- Serve as a legal advisor to businesses and enterprise functions within the company.
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale, or long-term challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
- Draft complex legal documents and review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counsel.
- Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution.
- Develop and maintain relationships with partners across the Legal Department and the company, influencing timely advocacy of new and proposed legal or regulatory obligations.
- Provide substantive legal advice on matters for more experienced management of the corporation.
- Develop and lead the implementation of strategic business initiatives, leading work teams to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives.
- Educate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal Department.
- Collaborate strategically with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor.
- Develop relationships with and provide guidance to more experienced leadership, including executive officers, on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the company.
- Partner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs.
Education and Experience Information:
- Required Qualifications: 5+ years of law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in political law, including matters related to PACs, corporate political activities, trade association political activities, employee political activities, pay-to-play requirements at federal, state, and local levels, lobbying laws, and gifts and entertainment.
- Familiarity with enterprise risk management frameworks and functions, and regulatory expectations for risk management at large banks and financial holding companies.
- Ability to analyze legal issues in substantive law in the area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters.
- Strong ability to think independently and provide credible challenge.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
Job Expectations:
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Salary Information:
- The base pay range for this position is $144, - $300,. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
