Duties

• Analyze insurance policies and provide detailed coverage opinions to clients
• Represent insurers in litigation involving coverage disputes and declaratory judgment actions
• Draft coverage position letters, pleadings, and dispositive motions
• Advise clients on claims-handling practices and risk mitigation strategies
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations on behalf of insurance carriers
• Coordinate with insureds, adjusters, and third-party administrators as needed
• Monitor and manage litigation handled by outside counsel, where applicable
• Stay current with legal developments in insurance law and industry regulations

Requirements

• 9 years of experience practicing insurance coverage law
• Strong understanding of commercial lines of insurance, including CGL, D&O, E&O, and property coverage
• Substantial experience handling both litigation and advisory components of insurance matters
• Ability to independently manage complex files and deliver timely legal guidance
• Previous experience working with insurers or in a dedicated coverage practice strongly preferred

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active and in good standing with the New York State Bar
