Tax Senior - Sustainability, Climate & Equity - Renewable Energy
Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior within the Sustainability, Climate, and Equity: Renewable Energy practice, the candidate will advise clients on tax issues related to renewable energy projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting renewable energy client engagements and participating in targeting new clients.
- Delivering value to clients by identifying opportunities and advising on potential benefits and eligibility requirements related to various Investment Tax Credits and Production Tax Credits, including IRC sections 48, 45, 45Q, and 45V.
- Preparing tax returns and providing advisory services related to modeling and structuring renewable energy tax equity structures, such as partnership flip, sale-leaseback, and pass-through lease.
- Maintaining and developing strong internal and client relationships.
- Demonstrating sound judgment and a quality-first mentality while evaluating eligibility for various fact patterns.
- Collaborating with colleagues across different technical specialties to perform benefit calculations and execute work streams like valuation studies and tax equity modeling.
- Identifying potential issues and proposing solutions to leadership, as well as implementing process improvement strategies.
- Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of engagement deliverables, which may include presentation decks, executive summaries, credit calculations, completed tax forms, supporting files, memoranda, and IRS audit responses.
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory tax developments and working with the team to present potential opportunities to assist clients.
- Providing support with various internal initiatives and special tax-related projects.
Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model, requiring co-location in person 2-3 days per week.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work and clients served.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal and external working relationships.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA, Licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment.
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions.
- Previous experience with Big 4 or large CPA or law firm.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors involved in making compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,570 to $151,580. There is also potential eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, dependent on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
