Counsel-Merchant Solutions & Transactional
Job Responsibilities
As a Counsel in the Merchant Solutions and Transactional team at the company, the primary responsibilities include:
- Drafting and negotiating agreements with strategic partners, resellers, merchant clients, and software partners.
- Partnering with internal groups to introduce new, innovative payment solutions and providing ongoing legal support for existing products.
- Advising on laws and rules impacting the transaction processing businesses and providing guidance on regulations related to data privacy, security, and use.
- Offering prompt guidance and support to senior business and sales executives.
- Working directly with business unit representatives to draft and negotiate partner, client, and technology-related commercial agreements.
- Advising business partners on legal, contractual, and risk matters that impact their business unit or product set.
- Collaborating with product teams to commercialize new products and functionalities.
- Providing consultation and legal advice regarding strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer contracts, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Interacting with corporate specialists concerning finance, audit, tax, IT, publicity/press, regulatory, privacy, and technology matters affecting business divisions.
- Developing and maintaining forms of contracts and other legal documentation.
Education and Experience Information
To qualify for the Counsel-Merchant Solutions & Transactional position, candidates must have:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice, with the ability to become licensed as in-house counsel in the state where the company office is located.
- Good standing with the State Bar with no disciplinary record.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a transactional lawyer.
- At least 4 years of demonstrated ability to draft, analyze, and negotiate complex contracts.
- A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated negotiation skills and the confidence to effectively manage and interact with driven sales professionals.
Additional Preferred Experience:
- Experience interacting with senior management.
- At least 4 years of experience in exposure to merchant acquiring, financial services, and technology contracts.
Salary Information
The salary range for the Counsel-Merchant Solutions & Transactional position is between $88, and $158,. These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York, and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
Incentive eligible associates may receive an annual incentive opportunity, which could be delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards at the company’s discretion.
