Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Litigation Associate with specialized experience in insurance and reinsurance matters. This role involves handling a diverse range of complex disputes, focusing on policy interpretation and high-stakes litigation. The successful candidate will bring substantive courtroom experience, strong legal writing skills, and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a fast-paced litigation team.

Duties:

• Manage litigation matters related to insurance and reinsurance disputes

• Analyze policy language in professional liability, general liability, and D&O coverage

• Draft pleadings, motions (including dispositive motions), and legal memoranda

• Conduct and respond to written discovery

• Participate in depositions, including taking and defending witness testimony

• Represent clients in court proceedings as experience permits

• Support strategic litigation planning and case development

• Contribute to client relationship management and participate in case strategy discussions

• Engage in potential business development initiatives and legal marketing efforts

Requirements:

• 4 to 7 years of experience handling insurance coverage litigation and commercial disputes

• Deep familiarity with liability insurance frameworks and industry terminology

• Demonstrated courtroom and deposition experience

• Proficiency in managing case deadlines and coordinating litigation processes

• Strong research and writing skills with a focus on clarity and legal precision

• Capacity to function independently and within team structures

Education:

• Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with a . State Bar (Illinois admission preferred or ability to obtain)

Skills:
