Job Title: SVP, Associate General Counsel, Chief Privacy Officer
Job Responsibilities:
The Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel at the company will serve as a visible leader, providing legal and policy advice on privacy, technology development, cybersecurity, incident response, data governance, and artificial intelligence (AI) matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of dedicated privacy attorneys and professionals, offering guidance on legal issues and contributing to their career development.
- Participating as a member of various authorized risk committees and executive leadership for projects, influencing strategy with executive stakeholders.
- Staying updated on relevant privacy laws and regulations, such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Regulation S-P, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
- Developing and maintaining privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with legal requirements and industry best practices, and educating employees to foster a culture of privacy awareness and compliance.
- Creating and delivering privacy training programs to inform employees about their data protection and privacy responsibilities.
- Maintaining and enhancing procedures for handling and responding to privacy incidents, coordinating with stakeholders like Cybersecurity teams, Technology teams, Regulatory Affairs, and Corporate Communications.
- Advising and overseeing the company's response to fulfilling various data subject rights, and collaborating with Technology and Data Governance teams to establish efficient processes and systems.
- Drafting and negotiating a high volume of provisions and agreements for various commercial and technology contracts, collaborating with the Commercial Contracts team to drive standards around privacy and data protection provisions.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for privacy-related inquiries from regulatory authorities, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Acting as the legal leader for AI matters, participating as a member of the AI Governance Committee, organizing and leading a group of legal subject matter experts, and staying informed on legal, regulatory, and technological developments relating to AI.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from a nationally accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction in the .
- 15 plus years of experience counseling on privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations impacting the financial services industry, preferably within a financial complex involving a broker-dealer or registered investment advisor.
- Experience at a law firm or company in the financial services industry.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to influence others without direct authority.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to interact with senior management, adaptability, and willingness to take on a wide variety of new tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Information:
- Pay Range: $207,075-$345,125 per year.
- Actual base salary varies based on factors such as relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
