Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced trial attorney to join its insurance defense team. This position offers flexibility with remote, on-site, or hybrid work arrangements. The ideal candidate has extensive litigation experience, strong trial skills, and the ability to manage cases from inception to resolution. Duties

  • Represent clients in personal injury defense cases, including premises liability, wrongful death, dog bite claims, and motor vehicle accidents.
  • Prepare and execute trial strategies as first-chair counsel.
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Maintain regular communication and case reporting for insurance carriers.
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and court hearings.
  • Collaborate with clients, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel to build strong defense strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience handling personal injury defense cases.
  • Proven first-chair trial experience.
  • Ability to independently manage cases through all litigation stages.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with habitability cases (preferred but not required).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
  • ABOTA membership (preferred but not required).

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of personal injury defense and premises liability law.
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, and trial advocacy abilities.
  • Ability to manage billable time effectively and meet reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with legal teams and clients.
