Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services - ASC 740
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Managing Director is responsible for providing expert advice on tax implications related to client business objectives, evaluating strategic actions to reduce tax burdens, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This role serves as the primary client contact for complex tax issues, including the identification and communication of potential tax risks and changes in tax policy. The Tax Managing Director is integral to the office or region leadership team, overseeing client service teams and ensuring adherence to company policies and standards. Additionally, the role involves active participation in marketing, networking, and business development, maintaining client relationships, and acting as the primary contact for complex inquiries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Tax Compliance: Ensuring clients and service teams comply with authorities and internal policies, managing engagements, and overseeing client service delivery.
- Research: Identifying the need for research, framing issues, and reporting analyses, with a focus on complex tax issues.
- ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: Applying policies and standards regarding income tax provisions, reviewing provisions efficiently.
- Tax Consulting: Developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by reducing taxes.
- Tax Specialization: Gaining in-depth understanding of specific tax areas, advising clients on tax implications, and recommending compliance methods.
- Strategy Development: Introducing and developing ideas to improve client and company positions, including tax reduction and expense management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Review work prepared by team members and provide feedback.
- Act as a Career Advisor and manage workloads.
- Provide performance feedback.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of ten years of relevant tax experience, including public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Additional professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.
Software:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance software preferred.
