Job Title: Spring Judicial Intern
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on factual and legal issues relevant to cases handled by the **Members Only**.
- Review appellate records to assist in the preparation of cases.
- Perform substantive citation checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of legal references.
- Write memoranda of law and discuss findings with judges and attorneys at the Court.
- Observe judges' discussions on case issues and gain insights into judicial decision-making processes.
- Attend oral arguments to understand the presentation of cases and legal reasoning.
- Observe post-submission resolution of legal issues raised during oral arguments.
Education and Experience Information:
- Open to law students who will be rising second- and third-year students.
- Candidates are expected to have a foundational understanding of legal research and writing.
Salary Information:
- The judicial internship positions are unpaid. Internships can be volunteer-based or for academic credit, depending on the student's arrangement with their law school.
Additional Information:
- Interns are welcome to join the Court during spring, summer, and fall sessions.
- Any legal work performed outside the internship must undergo a conflicts check and receive approval from the Court.
- The application process requires submission of a cover letter, resume, and unofficial law-school transcript.
- Applications for the spring session are due by the end of November, for the summer session by the end of March, and for the fall session by the end of July.
- Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be considered.
