**Job Title:** Attorney Advisor
**Department:** Department of the Air Force, Air Force Civilian Career Training
**Summary:**
The position of Attorney Advisor offers a unique opportunity for recent law school graduates to serve the Air Force and Space Force as civilian attorneys. Successful candidates will receive extensive training and work under the title of Attorney-Advisor (General), providing legal advice and counsel in various fields such as administrative law, claims, environmental law, contract law, labor law, and international law to wing and tenant units. This program is open to . citizens, nationals, recent graduates, federal employees in the competitive service, and veterans.
**Job Responsibilities:**
- Perform developmental assignments under the guidance of senior attorneys or the Judge Advocate. These assignments include assessing legal compliance, evaluating legal sufficiency, local policies, proposed actions, commercial transactions, drafting documents, and responding to inquiries.
- Execute recurring assignments with increasing difficulty and complexity, determining practices and procedures for conventional tasks.
- Interpret and adapt guidelines to resolve procedural or factual issues, carry out special projects, and participate in special initiatives and studies.
- Conduct special assignments by researching policy and precedent, analyzing data affecting program operations, and preparing reference papers and documentation.
- Draft or prepare various documents in support of the Staff Judge Advocate using software tools like word processing and spreadsheets.
**Education and Experience Information:**
- Applicants must have completed a full law course from an institution accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and hold a first professional law degree (LLB or JD).
- Candidates must provide proof of passing the State Bar and being currently licensed as an attorney in good standing with the bar of a . state, territory, or commonwealth.
- Applicants must have completed all bar requirements within the last two years or will complete them by May 1, 2025, to qualify for the Recent Graduate Program.
- To qualify for a GS-11 position, candidates must have one year of professional law experience, a second professional law degree (.), or demonstrate superior law student work or activities.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):**
1. Knowledge of applicable law in specialized areas of legal practice to provide advice and counsel and represent Air Force interests.
2. Understanding of federal, state, and local law as it impacts individuals to provide personal legal assistance.
3. Skill in recognizing and analyzing legal issues and applying well-reasoned analysis.
4. Ability to research legal issues, analyze complex factual situations, and prepare legal opinions.
5. Effective communication skills with diverse individuals in and outside the legal profession.
6. Ability to prepare and try cases before a court or administrative body.
**Salary Information:**
- The salary range for this position is $72,553 to $134,435 per year, with a pay scale and grade of GS 11 - 13.
**Additional Information:**
- The PALACE Acquire Program offers a permanent position upon completion of formal training, which includes a 2-year formal training plan with yearly salary increases.
- Candidates must meet eligibility requirements, including . citizenship and registration for Selective Service if applicable.
