Job Title: 2L Summer Associate for 2026
Job Responsibilities:
The 2L Summer Associate will be engaged in various activities within the Trial department at the law firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Working on challenging client matters and acquiring substantive work opportunities specifically within the Trial department.
- Collaborating closely with practicing attorneys in the Trial area to gain firsthand experience.
- Developing and enhancing legal writing skills.
- Representing pro bono clients, thus contributing to the community and gaining practical experience.
- Attending client meetings, depositions, closings, and court appearances to understand the nuances of legal processes.
- Receiving formal feedback and mentoring to aid professional growth.
- Participating in seminars and training events hosted by Dorsey U, which is the law firm's in-house professional development group.
- Establishing meaningful relationships with fellow summer associates and attorneys through professional networking and various social events.
Education and Experience Information:
Applicants should be 2L students with a strong academic record. Preference is given to those with experience in law review, journal, or moot court, indicating a robust engagement with legal scholarship and practice. The position seeks candidates who exhibit strong interpersonal skills, ambition, and diverse perspectives, experiences, and interests.
Salary Information:
The compensation for this temporary position is $3,940 per week in California. However, this position does not include benefits.
