Job Title: Manager, Legal Operations
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Assist the department in setting annual and long-term goals to align with corporate strategy and track and report on these objectives.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a small global team of legal operations professionals and specialists.
Technology and Process
- Evolve the technology and innovation roadmap, enhancing maturity in key areas such as eBilling, workflow and document automation, self-service, knowledge management, document management, matter management, and eSignature.
- Drive the adoption and usage of technology and AI tools, including company products, across the general counsel office.
- Examine existing processes and workflows to capture opportunities for simplification and automation.
- Collaborate with the legal team to develop and maintain playbooks, templates, and other knowledge-sharing resources.
- Develop change management strategies to train and support staff in evolving ways of working.
Outside Counsel and Legal Vendor Management
- Partner with procurement, accounts payable, and the General Counsel’s Office to ensure value with vendors, monitor forecasts vs. actuals, support process definition and training, and manage all other aspects of vendor and outside counsel management, including reporting.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the general counsel office, technology, segments, product, and other business leaders.
- Develop and deliver training and communications materials to promote awareness and adoption of AI tools and other new technologies.
- Provide regular updates and feedback to stakeholders on project progress and outcomes.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Develop and manage the General Counsel’s Office annual operating plan, including forecasting and accruals.
- Participate in the strategic planning process to determine future headcount and spend by practice and geography, working closely with Finance and HR as key stakeholders and partners.
Data & Analytics
- Develop maturity in the use of data and analytics, especially within the Commercial practice group.
- Develop and refine dashboards for use by the Chief Legal Officer and GCO Leadership Team.
Industry Engagement
- Engage with external industry groups to stay current on emerging industry trends and best practices.
- Identify and evaluate new tools and technologies that can enhance the delivery of legal services.
Education and Experience Information:
- JD/LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification, or extensive paralegal experience with demonstrated expertise in legal operations transformation.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in legal operations management, with a proven track record of implementing technology solutions in a legal environment.
- Deep understanding of legal workflows.
- Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and metrics for decision-making.
- Experience with company legal products and services preferred.
- Certification in legal operations, project management, or a related field is a benefit.
Salary Information:
- In the United States, the base compensation range for this role is $99,400 - $184,600, depending on location and individual qualifications, skills, and experience.
- This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
- Base pay is part of a comprehensive Total Reward program, which includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
