Senior Director, Global Transaction Tax (State and Local Tax / SALT)

A&M is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Director to join our Global Transaction Tax team in Miami, FL. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and collaborative team of professionals, providing tax advice to corporate and private equity clients throughout the transaction life cycle. You will have the chance to work on a variety of industries, including education, energy, environmental services, financial institutions, healthcare, and software and technology. As a Senior Director, you will have the unique opportunity to work without audit conflict and truly act as a trusted business advisor.

Responsibilities:

- Perform due diligence, including review of tax returns, financials, and other documentation to evaluate potential tax risks and opportunities
- Review and comment on tax aspects of financial models, purchase agreements, and structuring calculations
- Take ownership of assigned workstreams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work product
- Coordinate with federal and international tax team members, as well as financial and operational due diligence team members, to deliver integrated work product
- Draft client-ready reports summarizing tax issues and attributes identified during diligence
- Oversee, develop, mentor, and delegate work to a team of staff
- Take a leading role in client communications, including verbal updates and recommended next steps
- Manage client relationships by communicating and responding to client expectations
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities
- Participate in firm initiatives, such as trainings and client events

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance required
- Advanced Degree / Certification required: CPA, MST, MAcc, JD or LLM
- At least 9 years of relevant experience in a mergers & acquisitions tax practice at a Big 4 firm, Big Law firm, or similar firm, and at least 6+ years of experience in state and local tax
- Deep knowledge of federal and state income tax, non-income tax, and unclaimed property issues
- Strong writing, analytical, research, and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong sense of personal motivation and ability to work with a team
- Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive, and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback to improve performance
