The role involves helping clients identify, document, and support tax positions related to BIG tax law. The manager will also be responsible for business development, process improvement, and team-building initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax, or finance, with a preference for a Master's degree or a Juris Doctorate. They should have at least 5 years of prior experience, with prior experience in BIG tax consulting and supervising tax professionals. A CPA certification and Enrolled Agent status are preferred. Job Duties:
- Conducting research on identified topics and preparing effective research memos and presentations for clients
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities and identifying options for minimizing tax and reporting burdens
- Developing and implementing solutions to provide clients with maximum tax benefits and staying informed of new developments in the BIG tax area
- Effectively representing clients before tax authorities and responding to inquiries regarding BIG tax issues
- Understanding and applying industry and firm standards regarding BIG positions and developing new ideas and strategies to advance the position of clients and the firm
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Effectively supervising and reviewing the work of STS BIG Senior Associates and Associates
- Ensuring the training and professional development of STS BIG Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns
- Evaluating the performance of STS BIG Senior Associates and Associates and providing feedback and performance evaluations
- Acting as a Career Advisor to STS BIG Senior Associates and Associates
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax, or finance (Master's degree or Juris Doctorate preferred)
- 5+ years of prior experience (supervising tax professionals and BIG tax consulting experience preferred)
- CPA certification and Enrolled Agent status preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax-related software and research databases
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
