Job Title: AVP, Auto/Transportation Commercial Claims

Job Responsibilities:
The AVP, Auto/Transportation Commercial Claims will be responsible for actively managing and effectively overseeing assigned team members and claims professionals dealing with automobile/transportation claims related to coverage, liability, and damages. The primary responsibilities include:

- Providing technical expertise and oversight to Claims Directors and Examiners, particularly in the analysis and handling of coverage issues and complex claims.
- Managing the identification and retention of top talent through Claims Directors, engaging in training, employee development, and ensuring performance accountabilities are managed consistently and timely.
- Overseeing the Trial Committee process, which includes reviewing cases set for trial, assisting in developing resolution strategies, and overseeing the reporting process to the Home Office.
- Attending mediations and trials of complex cases as necessary, with travel required to various locations within the United States.
- Reviewing and editing timely and appropriate responses to Time Limit/Stowers/Policy Limit Demands.
- Completing automobile/transportation liability reserve reviews of accounts.
- Overseeing control activities such as the BI Predictive Modeling System, Large Loss Snapshot reviews, reserve reviews, and aging reviews.
- Conducting training sessions on current topics and facilitating partnership calls to discuss issues of concern with underwriting, actuarial, and Risk Engineering team members.
- Partnering with other business unit leadership team members to ensure consistency in process and quality claim handling across business units.
- Identifying opportunities for loss cost reduction and supporting strategies that improve financial outcomes.
- Addressing state and federal regulatory issues, including Medicare issues and state insurance department audits/complaints.
- Working on various claims-related projects as needed.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; a JD is beneficial.
- The candidate must have over 5 years of experience leading managers and multiple teams.
- A minimum of 15 years of working experience in the insurance industry handling automobile/transportation coverage issues is required.
- Multi-line experience as a front-line claims adjuster/supervisor and experience in a service/account management role is necessary.
- Detailed technical knowledge of automobile/transportation claims handling is necessary, with the ability to advise Claims Directors and Examiners on the handling of complex injury and property damage cases.
- The candidate should have the ability to analyze complex coverage issues and draft coverage disclaimers/Reservation of Rights letters.
- Liability Claims Audit experience is required.
- Hands-on experience and strong aptitude with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are necessary.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills are required to develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, and time management skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and engage in active strategic discussions across stakeholders is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential.
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to make decisions in a team-based environment are necessary.
- Willingness and ability to travel 10-20% is required.

Salary Information:
- The base salary range for individuals assigned or hired to work in the specified location(s) is $166,900 - $180,000 per year.
- The position is incentive eligible.
- Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, scope, and responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability, specialization, and business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
