A leading law firm is seeking a California-licensed Associate Attorney to join its Environment & Land Use practice group. The role offers the opportunity to work on significant legal matters involving renewable energy, public infrastructure, utilities, housing, transportation, and commercial development. Location

Duties

  • Conduct land use and environmental due diligence for private and public projects

  • Advise on and secure land use entitlements and environmental/resource permits

  • Provide legal counsel on CEQA and NEPA compliance matters

  • Defend environmental and zoning approvals in both state and federal courts

  • Collaborate with cross-functional legal teams including Real Estate, Infrastructure, Eminent Domain, and Government Relations

  • Support clients in the renewable energy, housing, utilities, transportation, and infrastructure sectors

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience practicing environmental and land use law

  • Experience with CEQA, NEPA, entitlements, and permitting processes (strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated legal research and analytical skills

  • Strong writing ability and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced legal environment

  • Interest in long-term career development in environmental and land use law

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited . law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar (required)

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and oral communication

  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities

  • Proficiency in environmental regulatory frameworks and land use law

  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset

  • Capable of working independently and with cross-practice groups
