Job Title: Financial Services Tax - Real Estate Director

Job Responsibilities:
A career in the Financial Services Tax practice within Corporate Tax services at the company involves helping clients meet their tax obligations while managing the impact tax has on their business. The role includes advising clients on local and overseas tax affairs, acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing working capital, and profit sharing for partners. Additional responsibilities include helping organizations understand the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties and providing advice on the tax implications of deals. The Director will assist Financial Services clients in navigating the frequently changing and complex national and international tax environment, including capital requirements, operational tax risks, and tax implications of investing in different jurisdictions. The Director will help clients with tax structuring and address challenges in the continuously changing tax landscape, both locally and globally.

As part of a team of problem solvers, the Director will help to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to supporting the team to disrupt, improve, and evolve ways of working when necessary, arranging and sponsoring appropriate assignments and experiences to help people realize their potential, identifying gaps in the market, and spotting opportunities to create value propositions. The Director will look for opportunities to scale efficiencies and new ways of working across multiple projects and environments, create an environment where people and technology thrive together, and promote and encourage others to value difference when working in diverse teams. The role involves driving and taking ownership for developing connections that help deliver what is best for people and stakeholders, influencing and facilitating the creation of long-term relationships that add value to the company, and upholding the company's code of ethics and business conduct.

Additional responsibilities include leading as technology-enabled tax advisors who provide value through digitization, automation, and increased efficiencies. This involves equipping professionals to succeed in a world where transactions are faster and more complicated and require a deeper level of sophistication. The Director will provide unparalleled technical knowledge and specialization and industry insights, coupled with the One Firm knowledge that brings everything the company offers to solve clients’ needs.

Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications include a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 6 years of experience. Certification(s) required for this role include CPA, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance-specific credentials that may qualify for this opportunity.

Preferred knowledge and skills include extensive knowledge of tax compliance methods and strategy consulting for Real Estate Investment Trusts and Real Estate Partnerships. A thorough understanding of partnership structures and their impact on real estate transactions and corresponding tax liabilities is necessary, as well as considerable knowledge of accounting for Unrelated Business Taxable Income.

The role requires extensive technical skills, including providing full services to real estate owners, developers, and investors, including publicly traded REITs, institutional real estate funds managed by financial institutions, and privately held real estate entities. Experience identifying and addressing client needs, developing and sustaining deep client relationships, preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials, and defining resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing, and collection is essential. The Director should have thorough experience as a team leader, generating a vision, establishing direction, motivating members, creating an atmosphere of trust, leveraging diverse views, coaching staff, and encouraging improvement and innovation.

Demonstrated experience as a tax technical team leader generating new business, proposal writing and delivery, collaborating across engagements and business units, and identifying opportunities to provide additional services is crucial. Experience utilizing a CRM system in a professional services firm to network, develop relationships, and sell additional/new services is also required.

The role involves experience in a professional services environment utilizing automation and digitization, innovating through new and existing technologies, working with large, complex data sets to build models and leveraging data visualization tools to provide insights to clients. Transforming the business by creating capacity and delivering an enhanced employee and client experience is expected.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $140,900 - $434,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range for this position. Actual compensation within the range will depend on the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
