Job Title: Tax Manager, Unclaimed Property Tax - State and Local Tax (SALT)

Job Responsibilities:
As an Unclaimed Property Tax Manager within the Multistate Tax Services group, you will provide tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors. Your key responsibilities will include:

- Assessing clients’ state and local tax burdens and recommending solutions that align with their overall business objectives, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and rules.
- Assisting clients in complying with complex laws and requirements related to uncashed payroll checks, aged accounts receivable credits, and other types of abandoned and unclaimed property.
- Providing assistance to multi-state companies with state unclaimed property matters, including audit defense, voluntary compliance, annual reporting, developing policies and procedures, and consulting.
- Reviewing unclaimed property compliance processes and making recommendations for improvement.
- Assisting audit teams with the review and analysis of unclaimed property reserves.
- Assisting multi-state companies with unclaimed property audits, including preparing clients for discussions with auditors, reviewing document requests, reviewing audit assessments, and representing clients at meetings.
- Researching and drafting technical memoranda regarding unclaimed property compliance rules in various jurisdictions.
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing staff.

Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model, requiring co-location in person 2-3 days per week.
- A minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in state and local tax with a specific focus on Unclaimed Property tax.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
- If not CPA eligible: Licensed attorney or Enrolled Agent.
- Certifications such as CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner).
- Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on work requirements and client and industry/sector needs.

Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Demonstrable tax knowledge across a wide range of state and local tax areas, including state tax compliance, tax planning, tax analysis, and tax research.
- Previous consulting experience from a large accounting or law firm.
- Adept communicator with advanced writing skills, comfortable creating and delivering presentations across all levels of an organization.
- Advanced knowledge of OneSource, GoSystems, and/or similar tax software, with a strong interest in learning new technology.

Salary Information:
The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,900 to $203,060. Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, where an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
