Job Title: Internship Fall - Family Law Unit

Job Responsibilities:
Interns at the organization will have the opportunity to engage in various tasks that support the mission of providing free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income and elder residents. The responsibilities vary depending on the duration and timing of the internship (academic-year or summer). Generally, the tasks include:

- Providing client services and advocacy.
- Conducting intakes and gathering information.
- Performing smaller research projects.
- Assisting staff with case preparation.
- Observing court/hearing sessions.
- Assisting in case work and providing direct service to clients (especially for summer interns or those in longer-term programs).
- Attending additional events, learning opportunities, and training sessions.
- Potential for direct representation on certain legal matters based on experience, skill-level, and relevant certifications.

Education and Experience Information:
The organization accepts applications from both law and undergraduate students. While the type of work and depth of experience depend on the candidate's availability and experience, the organization considers all kinds of experience, not just credentials. Interns are encouraged to work around 10 hours a week during the academic year, and full-time for approximately 10 weeks during the summer. The organization participates in work-study programs and supports fellowship applicants.

Salary Information:
The organization does not compensate interns directly. However, they support and assist candidates who have secured alternative sources of funding and promptly prepare any necessary paperwork. They participate in work-study programs operated through schools.
